An Interesting Start to 2017

(Originally written March 2017)

2017 has certainly been an interesting year so far!  Not trying to “toot my own horn” too much, but in January, I was honored to receive the Durham Regional Association of REALTORS® “2016 REALTOR of the Year” Award at our Associations’ banquet.  Outside of my “traditional” duties of helping buyers and sellers with their transactions, I had served as the “Past President” of the Association, I teach “new member orientation”, and I serve on the State Association’s “Residential Forms Committee” (an intriguing committee, but that’s another story).   To be honored by my colleagues was a special thrill, but even better was that many family members came to town to surprise me at the banquet.  My sisters came from Virginia Beach, my aunt and uncle came from Norfolk, Virginia, my cousins came over from Raleigh, but most special was my daughter coming from San Francisco.  What a wonderful surprise to see here there!

The real estate business has been interesting, too.  So far, this has been a tricky year.  With the housing market so tight, it is a battle to find homes to sell.  Over the past couple of months, however, my personal business has done very well.  I’m very fortunate to get referrals from my past clients.  That certainly makes part of my job easier, and I’m very appreciative.  It also says that my clients have liked and appreciated the job that I did for them, and that means an awful lot to me, too.  As I say, I’m in this for the “long haul”, unlike a number of agents who are just looking for their next paycheck.

If you or someone you know is considering buying or selling a home here or anywhere in the world, please let me know and I’ll do my very best to help.
